London, Day 2

We didn’t have any work to do today for work, so we did a little sight seeing.  Debbie, my boss slept in, so her son and son’s fiance and I went for the famous square mile walking tour of London at 10:30am.  The “tube” station outside our apartment was closed so we had to quickly navigate the bus and tube maps.  I was well rested after 10 hours of sleep, thank goodness.  We ran into Big Ben, which is absolutely gorgeous, see below.  The two hour walking tour gave us tons of information about the buildings and history within the true London square mile.  See if you can spot the picture below where “Harry Potter” was filmed.

We headed to the British Museum after the tour for lunch at the cafe inside and about an hour and a half of a quick museum tour.  I saw some awesome art and am so happy that I had a chance to see the museum.  The Rosetta Stone!  A statue from Easter Island!  Items from The Parthenon!  So many great pieces….

We headed back to the apartment to get ready to head out to check out the Savoy, a hotel that just reopened recently that Through The Looking Glass used to use back in the day before it closed for 3 years.  It was beautiful and I am sure that we will head back with future antique tour trips.  The bar room pictured below from the Savoy is the room that BBC first aired from.  Pretty coo, huh?

We headed to dinner at Rules, London’s oldest restaurant for dinner.  Very cozy.  I had a ribeye and “chips”.  Yummy.

Another great day with lots of adventures.  Tomorrow we head out to the Cotswolds to check out some more hotels and antique stores…
