An American in Paris

Michael got over his jet lag with a 3 hour nap.  We headed out to dinner about 8:00.  Michael had found a Fodor’s rated restaurant just about a block from our hotel called “Zen”.  One of our favorite restaurants at home is called “Zen”, so we thought it would be a good choice.  I am pretty sure we were in a locals spot since we seemed to be the only Americans in there.  We asked if our waitress spoke English (since the menu was only in French and Japanese), and she quickly motioned for another waiter to come our way.  He was very nice and we even helped him with his English.  He spoke little French as he was from Japan.  At the end of our meal he told us that the chef wanted to know how we had heard about the restaurant… obviously we were the Americans out of place in this local Japanese restaurant.  It was very delicious and we enjoyed a variety of dishes.  We were proud of ourselves for finding a great spot on our first night in Paris!

Oh, and before we left for dinner, we got a nice surprise.  We had a knock on our hotel room door and this arrived…. (as a happy “honeymoon” to us from the hotel)…. delicious!  We are loving our second honeymoon 🙂
