I am in Orlando visiting some family now for a long weekend.  Today, my cousin Robin, her son Parker and I have been hanging out.  We went to the park since the weather was so beautiful .

Parker is 2 years old and talking up a storm.  His favorite word is “squash” – that is what he calls Veggie Tales, his favorite show.

Maryland Birthday Trip

A month ago, Michael and I took a random trip to Maryland.  For my birthday back in June, Michael had surprised me with this trip.  He had everything planned out….he is such a good planner.  I love exploring new cities.

We flew into Baltimore early on a Friday, so we had the whole day to explore the city before heading to the baseball game at Camden Yards that night.  We took a water taxi to Fells Point and had lunch on the water at Shuckers before heading to the National Aquarium.   I love watching the jellyfish swim.  I could watch them for hours.  Someday I would like a jellyfish aquarium in my house…

After the aquarium, we went to check in at our hotel and take a quick nap.  We had been up since 5:00am, so we were pooped!  On our way back we stumbled upon a 9/11 memorial.  Since it was just a few days after the 10 year anniversary, we were happy to have found it.

Our hotel room view was awesome, looking into Oriole Park at Camden Yards.  Michael got hooked up with some awesome baseball tickets from someone he used to work at the Bobcats with. We basically had a whole suite to ourselves!  The weather was perfect and it was a beautiful baseball stadium.  Afterwards, we headed over to a bar called Pickles Pub for a few cocktails.

We slept in on Saturday morning and headed out to a late brunch at a recommended Miss Shirley’s Cafe.  If you ever go to Baltimore, you MUST eat here.  It was the best brunch we had ever had.  The grits and chocolate chip waffles were amazing.  After brunch we did a little shopping and checked out the Geppi’s Entertainment Museum.  We laughed when we first went in because there were thousands of comic books…Nerd Museum!  But, then found the old toys and that was a nice trip down memory lane.

Next stop….Columbia, Maryland!  This was only about 30 minutes away.  It is a suburb of Baltimore.  Michael and got us some tickets to the HFStival to see the Avett Brothers.  We checked into our hotel and walked to Union Jacks to watch some football and have some dinner before heading to the concert.  Great place to watch games and yummy food!  And the concert was awesome…

Sunday morning we enjoyed breakfast in bed and room service – I love room service.  We had no specific plans for the day….so we decided to go check out Annapolis, Maryland!  It was only about a 45 minute drive or so. The town was super cute.  We checkout out the Naval Academy, had some lunch at Pusser’s on the water, went shopping, etc.  It was a lovely Sunday and a great way to end our fabulous trip!

Beach Fun

I can’t remember the last time I was at the beach for a whole week.  I think this is a tradition that we might have to start for every Labor Day weekend/week.  One of my favorite things ever is laying on the beach with some tunes on the iPod.

Being here with a little one (Benjamin Buda) is so much fun.  He is having a blast!

I hit this poor little guy with a bocce ball…

Well, we don’t actually know if it was his first beach trip since he is a rescue.  But, it was our first beach trip with him.  He had so much fun watching all of the seagulls and kids running around.  He even went for a dip in the ocean.

Corolla Wild Horses

Yesterday morning we all headed out on a Corolla Wild Horse tour with Back Country Safari.  We piled into some open air trucks and we were off down the beach in search of the horses.  Click here to read the history on the wild horses.

There is 10,000 acres where the horses are allowed to roam now.  It is pretty neat to drive through all of the dunes and neighborhoods in north Corolla.  There are no roads, only sand.  Good thing we were in a big 4 wheel drive truck!

We saw about a dozen horses (there are only about 150).  We saw a couple of babies and a couple of very pregnant mamas-to-be.  Can you imagine staying in one of these houses and waking up to wild horses out your window.  Crazy. It was such a neat trip and a must if you visit the northern Outer Banks!

We have seen a lot of these sculptures on the beach this week.  People have used the leftover debris from Hurricane Irene to create art!

Happy Anniversary

Yesterday was Michael and I’s first anniversary.  It is hard to believe that it was a year ago when we were tying the knot in Vegas with 60 of our closest friends and family.  Such awesome memories…

Now, I am ready to go back to Vegas!  We were there for 12 days for our wedding/honeymoon…which is WAY TOO LONG to be in Vegas.  But, now I miss it and I am ready to go back.  Maybe next year 🙂

We are in the Outer Banks now for a week vacation.  What a great way to celebrate our first year of marriage.  Michael’s parents are also with us  – who share our same anniversary day of September 5th.  Michael grew up coming to the Outer Banks for summer family vacations.  I am so glad to be a part of the tradition now.  Here are a couple of photos from yesterday.  I even brought some of our left over Elvis sunglasses from the wedding with me!

I love you so much Michael Johnson and I can’t wait to see what the future hold us for!
